Grow Your Lists with Giveaways
Hey, Paul Livingston here with an admission of stupid…
About three weeks ago I sent a broadcast to my lists about giveaways. In that letter I told them I don’t usually promote giveaways, and that was true…at the time.
Since then I’ve learned that giveaways are one of the fastest and easiest ways to build your list. How did I learn this? Well, I set up my tracking to compare results from my first-ever giveaway against results I get from my other sources of free traffic: traffic exchanges and safelists.
To put it mildly, the resulting stats stunned me. Using the same squeeze page, one giveaway gave me more than five times the number of sign-ups I got from the other methods! And the giveaway only took about ten minutes to set up, while the other methods of free traffic take hours every day.
Have you ever heard the term, “Work smarter, not harder?” Well, this is a prime example of that. Just think what my results could have been if I had spent those hours joining more giveaways instead of surfing! (Since then I’ve joined more giveaways, naturally.)
I have two excellent reports for you detailing exactly how to set these giveaways up for yourself, even if you don’t have anything to give away!
The first one is presented by myself and was written by Alex Jeffreys. It’s a free download and can be found here:
http://secretaffiliatemethods.com/ListBuilding
After grabbing the book, you will be presented with an offer. I strongly recommend you take it. It is worth several times the $47 cost. It’s a series of instructional videos showing you how to build your list and earn a fantastic income doing so. Plus, it comes with a membership to DeskTopBucks–a $147 value.
I shouldn’t even tell you about the second book. I’m creating competition for myself. But here it is anyway:
http://www.plivingston.com/presents/ezgive
This one is from Mike Paetzold, another six-figure earner. This product is not free, but real cheap ($7)
and comes with a system already set up for you. Pages and everything.
I’d grab it all if I were you, this stuff is gold.
Okay, last but not least… you need a giveaway to contribute to. This one is Reed Floren’s. Get your gift up here and it will get super exposure. http://plivingston.com/suggests/RFcontributer
Or, if you just want to grab the goodies, go here:

Hey, this will be fun!
Good luck,
Paul Livingston

Did you create your site since you started Alex’s course?
I am doing a promotional video, and wanted to know if I could use a screenshot of your site?
Could you drop me an email to let me know?

Hi Paul,
You made a comment on my blog about my autoresponder code not being on my list building roadmap. Not sure I understand. When I click the link it goes to the squeeze page. Would you mind popping over and elaborating? I’m a bit concerned.
Thanks,
Debbie

@debbie…
Yes, the link does go to the squeeze page. But the squeeze page has no opt-in form. In other words, the autoresponder code isn’t there. For me, at least.
I’ll go to your blog and explain.

Paul,
Thanks for the explanation. I’ll see what I can do to use the html code, but not really sure what that will take.
Anyway, thanks for the info.

Hi Paul, just heard you on the brainstorming session, I’ve just gone through that process but within my own host. .(changed my blog from my blog.derricksiu.com to www.thenetexperiment.com). . These guys are very good, as when i moved to them 3 years ago, they moved all my sites for me from my previous host, so they may be able to help you and do it for you :). .here’s the link to them : http://tinyurl.com/63tcbz - Just click onto support and they have LIVE support 24/7 and usually respond within 30min. hope this helps with your blog migration :)). . cheers, Derrick

Whoops. . just realised the importance of proof reading! What i meant to say was i just MOVED my blog from one domain to another (moved everything including posts and comments), and they give you LIVE SUPPORT 24/7 so you get a response immediately, or email support (like with alex jeffreys support ticket system) where they usually respond within 30min

You use the html code the same as the Java code.
Just copy & paste it into the same spot you would with the Java script.
The only difference is it’s a lot longer and it won’t automatically update if you make changes to your form. You would have to copy & paste it again after any changes.

@Mark Terrell…
Done, sir. And thanks!

@Derrick Siu…
Thanks for the tip Derrick, but I just signed up with Dreamhost with a one-year contract.
The deal was so good I couldn’t pass it up
I’ll get the transfer figured out somehow, though.
Thanks again!

Hi Paul,
I changed my aweber to html instead of java, so I hope it shows up now on unblocked scripts. Thanks again for the tip.

Hi Paul,
You are right, JV giveaways kick butt compared to Traffic exchanges. I am an old Traffic exchange user. Maybe you have seen my Traffic Hits Multiplier promotions.
I was in the middle of revamping it when I joined Alex’s coaching program. Since then I have put everything on hold. I saw your name in some of the giveaways and that is why I stopped by.
You have probably noticed this too. I am starting to see a lot of people giving away List Building With Alex. This is really diluting my results. I have come up with a solution for this and am giving away 6 PLR products to help everyone out.
I am also going to post some videos to show everyone how to set up one of these products to use in a giveaway. Come by and pick yours up when you get a chance.

Great post Paul,
This info is real helpful, may save a learning step for us.
And you are so right about how people want what they want not what they need. The trick is to find out what they are actually looking for.
With personal growth, my main field that I have studied for over 30 years, I have a good idea what people need to really get results but it involves effort, so what millions of people buy are things they think are ‘magic’ fixes. And still few even use them!
So, I’ve figured that I need to offer the ‘easy way out products’ but craft them in such a way that people can hopefully get more out of them.
What methods have you used to find out what people are looking for? Questionaires? Forum research?
Again, great info, Thanks
John
PS, Don’t forget everyone, I set up a search engine for AJ students blogs, use it and be in it.
January 21st, 2009 at 2:40 am
John—
Yes, I do forum research and have two surveys running right now
Another way to find what people are looking for is to find what people are buying. I do this through Google, Amazon, ClickBank, etc.
Thanks for the comment. And thanks for that search engine!
